After a suspected arson fire destroyed the Leslieville Elks building back on December 29th, the community is rallying to raise funds to help them re-build.

The Hooterville Hilton Cafe in Leslieville will be holding a silent auction and dance next month, with all funds raised going towards the Elks.

Owner and Manager of the Cafe Jennifer Heyland says there was little hesitation to start helping.

“We’ve all just been kind of working together to try and help these guys get a little bit of what they lost back, because they’ve definitely helped the community in many different ways. We never ask for any cash donations or anything like that, but we’ve had overwhelming support from people who want to donate.”

The Cafe recently suffered a break-in this past weekend, where their till as well as about $600 for the fundraiser was stolen. Luckily it was just the cash raised for the previous day, not the entire amount raised so far.

Heyland also warns the public about scammers, who may solicit you with a phone call asking for donations for the Elks club.

The dance and silent auction will be on February 3rd at the Leslieville community hall, tickets are $10 and include entertainment and a midnight supper.
