A number of recent arrests in Red Deer involved suspects fleeing police at high rates of speed; fortunately, no injuries resulted from those acts. Several of the suspects arrested recently were in possession of weapons or imitation firearms, in contravention of court-imposed conditions, and many were wanted on outstanding warrants.
 
 
June 10
Red Deer RCMP located and arrested a woman who was wanted on a warrant for extortion after she allegedly attempted to extort money from a victim of theft in exchange for keys that were stolen during the theft.
 
27 year old Angie Marie Jury faces the following charges:
Criminal Code 346(1.1)(b) – Extortion
Criminal Code 733.1(1) – Fail to comply with probation order
Jury was remanded and made her first court appearance on June 12; she will appear again in Red Deer on June 26 at 9:30 am.
 
June 10
At 9 pm on June 10, RCMP on patrol in south Red Deer conducted a traffic stop and located a woman who gave police a false name before being identified as a suspect who was wanted on several outstanding warrants; at the time of her arrest she was further found to be breaching court-imposed conditions.
 
24 year old Tashina Shaylene Night faces a charge of obstructing a peace officer (Criminal Code 129(a)) as well as her outstanding warrants. She made her first court appearance in Red Deer on June 12 and will appear again on June 26 at 9:30 am.
 
June 12
At 12:15 am on June 12, RCMP on foot patrol in downtown Red Deer located two suspects who were both wanted on outstanding warrants and were found to be breaching court-imposed conditions; RCMP seized a knife from the male suspect.
 
31 year old Amanda Lee Beaverbones faces the following charges in addition to outstanding warrants out of Calgary and Red Deer for probation breaches and failing to attend court:
Criminal Code 145(3) – Fail to comply with conditions X 3
Criminal Code 56.1 – Illegal possession or trafficking in government documents
Beaverbones made her first court appearance in Red Deer on June 13 and appeared again on June 20 at 9:30 am.
 
46 year old James Mitchell was wanted on outstanding warrants out of Medicine Hat for unlawful confinement, kidnapping, assault, drug possession and breaching conditions, and warrants out of Red Deer for possession of a dangerous weapon, failing to appear in court and a number of charges of failing to comply with conditions. He was further charged with:
Criminal Code 145(3) – Fail to comply with conditions X 4
Criminal Code 88(1) – Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
Mitchell made his first court appearance in Red Deer on June 13 and has now been sentenced on these charges.
 
June 13 & 15
Shortly before 6 am, Red Deer RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious male who was found in a person’s vehicle. The suspect attempted to flee but was detained by the vehicle owner until police arrived. The suspect was wanted on several outstanding warrants at the time of his arrest and was found to be breaching court-imposed conditions.
 
38 year old Matthew Schoonderwoerd faces the following charges:
Criminal Code 430(4) – Mischief under $5,000
Criminal Code 145(3) – Fail to comply with conditions
Schoonderwoerd made his first appearance in court in Red Deer on June 13; he was scheduled to appear again on June 14 at 9:30 am.
 
Matthew Schoonderwoerd was arrested again on June 15 at approximately 5:30 am when RCMP responded to a break and enter in progress at a residential garage on MacLeod Close. At the time of his arrest, Schoonderwoerd had outstanding warrants for failing to appear in court for the June 13 arrest. In addition to those warrants, Schoonderwoerd now faces an additional charge of breaking and entering (CC 348(1)(a)). He is scheduled to appear in court on June 23 at 9:30 am.
 
June 13
Shortly after 7 pm on June 13, RCMP on patrol located a truck with a stolen license plate. The driver of the truck drove through north Red Deer at excessive speeds and was observed running several red lights; police did not pursue for public safety reasons but located the occupants walking in the Normandeau neighbourhood. The male and female suspects were arrested after a brief foot chase and with assistance from several citizens. RCMP located the abandoned truck nearby and determined that it had also been stolen, separately from the license plate.
 
32 year old Michael Wayne Campbell faces the following charges:
Criminal Code 355(b) – Possession of stolen property under $5,000
Criminal Code 355(a) – Possession of stolen property over $5,000
Criminal Code 249.1(1) – Operate motor vehicle while being pursued by police
Criminal Code 249(1)(a) – Dangerous operation of motor vehicle
Criminal Code 145(3) – Fail to comply with conditions
Criminal Code 733.1(1) – Fail to comply with probation order X 2
Campbell will appear in court in Red Deer on June 21 at 9:30 am.
 
 
June 14
Shortly before 10 pm on June 14, RCMP responded to a report of a shoplifter who assaulted a grocery store security guard. On her arrest, RCMP determined that the suspect had numerous outstanding warrants out of Red Deer, Stettler and Medicine Hat.
 
58 year old Maureen Susan O’Keefe faces the following charges in addition to her outstanding warrants:
Criminal Code 266 – Assault
Criminal Code 334(b) – Theft under $5,000
O’Keefe will appear in court in Red Deer on June 22 at 9:30 am.
 
June 15
At 2:30 am on June 15, RCMP responded to a report of a break and enter in progress to a residential garage. The victims followed the female suspect while calling police; when confronted nearby, the suspect pointed what appeared to be a handgun at one of the victims.
 
At the time of her arrest, the suspect was wanted on six outstanding warrants out of Camrose for possession of stolen property and misuse of credit cards, four outstanding warrants out of Innisfail for possession of stolen property over $5,000, possession of break-in tools and two counts of possession of a weapon, a warrant out of Killam for possession of stolen property over $5,000, and five warrants out of Red Deer for weapon possession (X 2), fail to comply (X 2) and obstruct peace officer.
 
19 year old Liticia Helen Willier faces the following charges in addition to her outstanding warrants:
Criminal Code 87(1) – Pointing a firearm
Criminal Code 88(1) – Possession of imitation weapon for dangerous purpose
Criminal Code 129(a) – Resist/ obstruct peace officer
Criminal Code 145(3) – Fail to comply with conditions X 6
Willier will appear in court on June 23 at 9:30 am.
 
June 16
At 6:30 am on June 16, RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle and located a stolen silver Ford Fusion at the Clearview Market. When police arrived, the Fusion collided with the police car and fled the scene, driving erratically and at high rates of speed. RCMP did not pursue the car, but located it abandoned nearby. Police Dog Services attended and tracked one of the suspects to a nearby green space where he was attempting to hide from police. RCMP located stolen identification in the suspect’s possession and determined that he was wanted on two outstanding warrants out of Red Deer for failing to appear in court.
 
29 year old Jeremy Michael Sanderson-Hayward faces the following charges in addition to his outstanding warrants:
Criminal Code 56.1 – Illegal possession or trafficking in government documents X 4
Criminal Code 355(a) – Possession of stolen property over $5,000
CDSA 4(1) – Possession of Schedule I substance
Sanderson-Hayward will appear in court in Red Deer on June 23 at 9:30 am.
 
June 17
Shortly before 3 am on June 17, RCMP located a suspect in a stolen white Chevrolet Silverado. The suspect refused to stop for police and fled at a high rate of speed. Red Deer RCMP re-located the suspect truck a short time later and arrested the driver, who was found to be wanted on outstanding warrants out of Red Deer and Olds. RCMP continue to investigate.
 
19 year old Anthony Csordas faces the following charges in addition to his outstanding warrants:
Criminal Code 355(a) – Possession of stolen property over $5,000
Criminal Code 129(a) – Resist/ obstruct peace officer
Criminal Code 249(1)(a) – Dangerous operation of motor vehicle X 2
Criminal Code 403(1)(d) – Personation to avoid arrest
Criminal Code 145(3) – Fail to comply with conditions X 4
TSA 52(1)(a) – Operate motor vehicle without registration
TSA 53(1)(b) – Operate motor vehicle with improper license plate
TSA 54(1)(a) – Operate motor vehicle without insurance
Csordas was remanded and will appear in court in Red Deer on July 4 at 9:30 am.
