April 20/17 - Three men and a woman were taken into custody shortly before 3am Friday morning in Red Deer, after fleeing from police in a stolen truck, and eventually crashing that truck into the front porch of a home.

RCMP located the stolen Ford F150 around 2:30am driving southbound on 30th Avenue near 22nd Street. The truck was driving erratically and at a high rate of speed, so police attempted to pull them over.

The truck refused to stop and the chase was on.

RCMP attempted to disable the vehicle by laying out spike stripes, but the truck was able to continue traveling northbound on 30th Avenue at high speeds, even after the spike stripe disabled the driver’s side front tire.

Eventually, the truck crossed the median and travelled the wrong direction in the southbound lane into Clearview Ridge, where it collided with the front steps of a home on Crossley Street.

“RCMP officers conduct continuous risk analysis when engaging in a pursuit, and public safety is always top of mind,” says Constable Derek Turner of the Red Deer RCMP. “In this case, the stolen truck encountered no traffic until it began to drive northbound on 30 Avenue. Because it’s a long, clear stretch and traffic was light, drivers were able to see the police lights from a distance and take steps to avoid colliding with the stolen truck.”

No injuries were reported during this pursuit, and the Red Deer Fire Department determined the damage to the front part of the house was minor, and the residents were allowed to remain inside.

A 31 year old man, a 26 year old man, a 32 year old man, and a 32 year old women were all taken into custody.

Red Deer RCMP will issue an update as more information becomes available and once charges have been sworn in before the courts.
