From Rocky Mountain House RCMP:

On Wednesday, January 16th, at approximately at 1130 a.m., Rocky Mountain House RCMP responded to a two vehicle collision on Highway 756 northwest of the town of Rocky Mountain House.

Preliminary investigation revealed a car with two occupants was travelling northbound on Highway 756 when it lost control and collided with an oncoming southbound truck with two occupants.

Tragically, the 35-year-old female driver and the 4-year-old male occupant of the car, both from O'Chiese First Nation, were pronounced deceased at the scene. The two adult male occupants of the truck suffered minor injuries and were transported to hospital and later released.

Rocky Mountain House RCMP along with a RCMP Collision Analyst remained on scene for several hours investigating. Road conditions at the time were reported as slippery due to freezing rain in the area.

No charges will be laid and no further updates are anticipated. The names of the deceased will not be released.

Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased at this time.
