The City of Lacombe unveiled their latest art piece Friday in the LMC, all part of the kick off the 19th annual Encore Art Sale.

The piece is a life sized guitar, named Liberace and made up of stained glass and metal, created by Central Alberta artist Trent Leach who does a whole series of glass stained instruments seen around our area.

Executive Assistant with the City Maureen MacKenzie says she was inspired to look more into Leach after seeing some of his work, and felt this was a perfect fit for Lacombe.

“Because he (Leach) does musical instruments their perfect for Lacombe because we have a huge music component. We have the music festival that happens, we’ve got so much music going on in Burman University, places like that, and so the guitar was a really really great fit.”

The art Sale goes Friday and Saturday at the LMC, and features 29 artist and 34 student artists, all with art work for sale.
