After 17 years, a Lacombe business is closing its doors.

Owner of The Culinary and Gift Shoppe in downtown Reuben Konnick won’t be renewing its lease and will officially close at the end of May.

Konnick has owned the store for the last 10 years, after purchasing it in 2006, and offered everything from home decoration, kitchen supply to even watch repair.

Konnick said it’s more of a personal choice, rather than finical reasons.

“I knew last year already that I wasn’t going to renew my lease. I’ve been here 10 years and I’m just looking for a change to be real honest with you.”

Konnick said he has enjoyed his time running the business and appreciates all the support he received from the community.

"In order for this business to be open for 17 years it needed support and its had that. We could always use more, but this business wouldn't have been here this long if there wasn't support."

Ruben Sanchez said he tried selling the business, but had no buyers.

The gift shop is having a close out sale until the every item is gone. Everything in the store is 50 per cent off.
