This Valentine’s Day, Lacombe Boston Pizza donated money from their heart-shaped pizza promotion to the Lacombe Food Bank.

“We selected the Lacombe Food Bank because we wanted to drive into that slower season for the Food Bank, push awareness, and recreate hype around it,” said Natalie Reglin, CAO of Lacombe’s Boston Pizza.

Thanks to Boston Pizza’s food bank donation of $1,118.85 the Lacombe Food Bank is sitting just a bit more comfortable now but is still in need of more donations.

“Right now, we’re very low on everything. So we will probably just buy a little of everything and top the shelves off,” said Millie Snow, general manager of Lacombe Food Bank.

Although the money donated could feed some families for a quite a while, when it comes to the Food Bank they are feeding around 1500 people a month.

“March to August is our slowest months. The Rotary stuff a bus in August and that usually carries us into Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving carries us into Christmas, but after Christmas, it’s usually low,” said Snow.

The Food Bank is accepting any sort of donation but is always in need of food items that can be put into lunches for students such as juice boxes, fruit cups, granola bars, and cookies. In the weekly hampers, they try to include a choice of peanut butter or jam, a choice between dish soap or laundry soap, a choice of tea or coffee and various canned goods.

Donating to the food bank is as simple as making a trip to their building, and bringing food along to donate. The Lacombe Food Bank is open 1 PM to 4 PM on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 6 PM to 8 PM on Thursdays, and 1 PM to 3 PM on Fridays.
