With another mild day in store, the forecast looks perfect for the arrival of the CP Holiday Train tonight (Dec 6th).

You're in for a show from Canadian rock legend Colin James and Toronto singer/songwriter Emma Lee.

Most importantly, on top of the lights, entertainment and fun, it's all about helping fill up our local food bank before the holidays according to Mallory McCredie with Canadian Pacific.

“We ask that people bring either a monetary or food donation because while the show is free we do still want to generate some kind of donation for the community and then everything raised within that community will stay within that community.  The food bank is responsible for distributing the items that are brought to the show to the people that need it most”.

Since the Holiday Train started in 1999 it's raised 13 million dollars Canadian and 4 million pounds of food for food banks across North America.

In Lacombe the train is set to arrive about 7:15 pm to the Len Thompson Fish Pond for a 7:30 show, if you've never been to see the train before McCredie explains what you can expect.

“The train comes into town and the stage door will drop and the band will kick off the show with the 1st holiday song which is really exciting, it really gets the crowd all pumped up.  After that CP will take the stage and we’ll talk with maybe the local Mayor or a local dignitary, then we’ll do a presentation to the food bank of a donation on behalf of CP and then we get right back into the music”.

McCredie says to expect about a half hour show.

Due to limited parking at the fish pond, the City of Lacombe is encouraging you to park at Lionel's No Frills and hop on the free BOLT shuttle bus which will be running from 6:30 to 9.

The Holiday Train stops in Ponoka before arriving in Lacombe, downtown on 50th Street, arriving at 5:30, concert starts at 5:45, after Lacombe the train continues to Blackfalds, set to arrive at 8:20 for an 8:30 show on Gregg Street between Broadway and East Avenues.

Both Broadway Avenue at the rail crossing and Gregg Street at East Avenue will be closed to traffic from 8-9 pm.

Tomorrow afternoon there are stops planned in Innisfail, Olds and Didsbury.

In Innisfail the schedule is for a 1:15 pm arrival at 52nd Avenue and 50th Street (the FasGas crossing), 1:25 show start.

In Olds the train arrives at the 50th Street level crossing at 2:35 for a 2:45 pm show and in Didsbury the Holiday Train will roll in at 3:50 for a 4 pm show at 19th Street and 18th Avenue.
