With phase one of Alberta's reopening underway, the Alberta Government announced on Sunday that hospitalization rates have so far remained low, with 57 Albertan currently in hospital, 9 of which are in intensive care.  This is 3 fewer Albertans in hospital since Saturday.

5,453 people have recovered from COVID-19 in our province, and one more Albertan has died.

57 new cases have been reported, bringing the number of total active cases to 1,064..Cases have been identified in all zones across the province:

  • 856 active cases and 3,621 recovered cases in the Calgary zone
  • 112 active cases and 1,086 recovered cases in the South zone
  • 60 active cases and 446 recovered cases in the Edmonton zone
  • 18 active cases and 196 recovered cases in the North zone
  • 13 active cases and 85 recovered cases in the Central zone
  • Five active cases and 19 recovered cases in zones yet to be confirmed

  • City of Wetaskiwin: 8 total cases, 0 active, 8 recovered
  • County of Stettler: 2 total cases, 0 active, 2 recovered
  • Mountain View County: 9 total cases, 3 active, 6 recovered

  • There have been 634 cases to date with an unknown exposure.
  • There have been 196,309 people tested for COVID-19 and a total of 213,078 tests performed by the lab. In the last 24 hours, 3,761 tests have been completed.
  • The total deaths are 127: 91 in the Calgary zone; 15 in the North zone; 12 in the Edmonton zone; eight in the South zone; and one in the Central zone.
  • There are 95 active cases and 592 recovered cases at continuing care facilities; 93 residents at these facilities have died

Staying Safe this Long Weekend

  • Outside gatherings can now be a maximum of 50 people. 
  • Physical distancing of two meters is still required between people from different households, and must not share food or drink.
  • Indoor gatherings are still limited to 15 people, except when otherwise identified in public health orders such as workplaces, places of workshop, and restaurants.  
  • Provincial parks are open, but some facilities remain closed, campfires are not permitted, and camping does not open until June 1. Learn more here.
