Red Deer County is interested in how often residents use ride services like taxis and limousines, why they use them and where they travel to.

It's part of a public consultation on regulations concerning vehicles for hire that's being conducted alongside the City of Red Deer.

Mayor Jim Wood said the county wants to develop consistent bylaws as those in neighbouring municipalities.

“I think we need to come up with some … rules that would work between various municipalities that put us on a fairly level playing field. Currently Red Deer County doesn’t have bylaws that address this area and every municipality around seems to have their own,” Wood said.

“So the idea of the survey is to question the public on what they’d like to see and take their considerations.”

Surveys will be mostly completed electronically, starting in August and concluding in September.
