A Lacombe business is encouraging residents to stop by and pick up free paint in support of 3-year-old Drevan Din who’s battling soft tissue and muscle cancer.

Nicole Petley of Fargeys Decorating Centre explains.

“We’re supporting him and giving away free paint for people, home owners and businesses to help show support. Paint a big blue heart on your window, this is a colour he has picked and will recognize.”

The boy’s family first learned he had cancer in 2015 and in November 2016, began remission.

Unfortunately, the cancer returned about a month ago, but with the support of the community, it’s made things a little easier.

Petley says it’s something they felt was important to the family and would love to see the entire city painted Drevan Blue.

“I’m hoping they’re feeling the love we’re putting out there. It touches every one of us in one way or another and we get so busy in our lives that we don’t stop for a moment. This is one of those occasions where we as a community can really show support for them.”

A silent auction and community BBQ is taking place this Sunday at the Wolf Creek Community Church from 3 – 7 p.m.

Proceeds will go towards helping cover the costs of the family’s frequent trips to Edmonton and medication.
