Red Deer's Welcoming and Inclusive Communities Network will be holding a vigil and prayer tomorrow night to stand in solidarity with the Muslim community.

The event follows the tragic shooting at a mosque in Quebec City on Sunday, that left six dead and several others injured.

“By coming together and showing that we are not ok with racism and discrimination, hopefully more people will see the importance of supporting any other person regardless of their race, gender or religion.” WIC Co-chair, Pamela Taylor said.

The vigil will begin at City Hall Park at 5pm and will last about an hour. There will be some candles to hand out, but people are encouraged to bring their own.

Taylor added that signs will also be allowed but must be appropriate. More information can be found on WIC’s Facebook page at
