For the second year in a row, Burman University held a fathers day event at Cranna Lake on Sunday (June 17th).

Supporters, student volunteers, and residents all showed up at the event, which featured a hotdog roast and canoeing on the lake.

Event organizer Kim Lachelt expected a really good turn out this year after soaring past their expectations the year before.

"Last year it was our intent to have about 40 people and we had over 500, this year we've done some advertising and we're expecting about 1500."

Helping out at the event was Burman University student Danielle Placide, who shared some of her favorite memories with her father.

"Growing up, my father and I would always drive to the states to visit family. The car rides were annoying at first, but it was nice because we always had time to bond and everything."

Lachelt explained that the event was a good opportunity for fathers who don’t want to break the bank, to participate in different activities with their children, free of charge.
