It's no doubt that Central Albertans get excited about rodeo and an announcement made Monday will get enthusiasts even more excited.

Sylvan Lake announced they will be home of the Bull Riders Canada Finals in November this fall as well as next.

This is exciting news for President of BRC, Russell Friend who says if all goes well, they hope to bring the event here for future dates as well.

“Were people first, when we shake someone’s hand that’s where we want to go,” he explains.

Friend says they previously held the event in Lloydminster but had to move it elsewhere, and everything lined up for it to make it to Sylvan.

“Our criteria for looking at events start with dates, number one has to date, because that ensures we are looking after our main stakeholders which are our core contractors for our bulls and our riders to get on them.”

Bull Riders from all over Canada will be in the arena in Sylvan on November 15 – 16, 2019, and again November 13 – 14, 2020.

To celebrate, town staff is also planning a weekend of festivities around the major two-day event, including a kick-off concert and dance.
