Last week the Board announced the appointment of Brett Speight to the role.

Speight is a Caroline native who has called Red Deer home for the last 17 years, and he's making a bit of a career change.

“Most of my background is in banking, I’ve spent almost 20 years in the banking industry in various roles and you know community impact has always been something that’s important to me and my wife, we volunteer with many different organizations and as I was doing my Masters I thought about why can’t I make that a career?”

Speight graduated last June with a Master’s in Business.

He's no stranger to the work of the United Way.

“I worked with the United Way in the past through different roles and different volunteer opportunities and I know the great work they do and it seemed like the perfect fit and fortunately the board agreed and I’m really excited to be starting on the 16th”.

Speight currently serves as the Board President for the Red Deer Museum and Art Gallery and a director with the Piper Creek Foundation.
