Blackfalds’ School Lunch program was started in March of 2020, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic in Alberta. Since then, the program has helped 1,061 families and 3,877 children from March to December of 2020.

Blackfalds Food Bank and the Blackfalds FCSS are pleased to announce that the program will continue on in 2021.

The program provides healthy lunches and food to families with children of any age.  It was made possible by monetary donations from local community members, businesses, and organizations.

"The program empowers families by giving them the supplies to prepare and provide their own breakfasts and lunches. All Blackfalds families with children are invited to benefit from this program, and all personal information is kept confidential," explained FCSS Manager Sue Bornn. "We are confident that we have received enough financial support to continue this program until the end of the school year."

The Blackfalds Food Bank is now operating out of the old Community Services Department Shop at 5014 Waghorn Street, Blackfalds and will continue to collect donations for the program.
