The Blackfalds Firefighters Association will be hosting their annual Santa Run with a few adjustments to manage the ongoing pandemic.

“Our department members always look forward to the Santa Run and we are excited that we have been given an opportunity to continue this tradition for the families and residents of Blackfalds,” said Fire Chief Robert Cote. “Our originally scheduled date of December 21 and 22 will continue.”

The fire crew has been travelling with Santa on their decorated trucks in Blackfalds collecting donations for the food bank for the last 15 years.

Earlier this month, the organization cancelled their event due to the new restrictions. However, they’ve decided to go forward with a couple of changes.

This year, they will not be collecting food bank items in order to limit contact with people. The Blackfalds Firefighters Association still encourages people to donate to the food bank on their own time despite their cancelled collection. You can donate online to the food bank, by clicking here or you can bring food bank donations to local businesses or the Blackfalds FCSS building.

They are asking families to stay within their household groups and ask them not to form gatherings.

On Monday, December 21st the crew will visit the west side of Blackfalds starting at 5:30 PM and on Tuesday, December 22nd they will begin their tour of the east side at 5:30 PM.
