The new Bike Skills Park in Blackfalds is just a couple of weeks away from being complete.

Riders in Blackfalds and the surrounding areas can get excited about the new 12-acre bike park as it’s expected to be complete by mid-September, said owner of Bike Skills Park and Trail Design Jay Hoots.

Featuring practice trails, balance features such as ladder bridges and logs, a pump track and jumps ranging from two to five feet along with a couple of expert wood jumps.

Hoots said it’s a need the community had, and is happy to be a part of it.

“We’ve just had a great time here in Blackfalds, working with local contractors, working with the town and all the local businesses here. It’s just been a fantastic experience for us.”

Hoots said he had a vision for the park and is excited to see it come together.

“We were at the leading edge of this 10-12 years ago and to see how the parks went from small little micro parks to now a 12 acre all in compassing beginner and family oriented to pro-level, all in the same area is pretty cool to see.”

Hoots and his construction crew are all riders who continuously try out their work, something he said really reflects the quality of the park.
