To kick off their first Match Activity Night, which will take place every Wednesday at the Bamford House, Big Brothers Big Sisters Lacombe received a large donation from the Lacombe Recreation and Culture Board.

The check for $2,000 was dropped off by members of the Lacombe Recreation and Culture Board, and will go to opening the Bamford House every Wednesday for all the matches.

Crystal Zens is the Executive Director for Big Brothers Big Sisters Lacombe, and she says the money will go towards making the newly purchased Bamford House and fun places for matches to hang out.

"The money will go to programs, supplies, equipment. Of course we are like a blank slate in the house, we never have had the opportunity to put on a program like this. So it went to kitchen baking equipment, games, projects, wood working projects, all sorts of different things".

Big Brothers Big Sister has been helping kids in Lacombe for over 28 years through one on one and group mentoring programs.

Their Landlord of the Month program was started last year, and encourages local sponsors to step up and donate a thousand dollars each month, until the remainder of the houses $149,000 mortgage is paid off.

This month is sponsored by Lacombe Ford, who went all in and sponsored six months total this year.
