CentreFest, Central has officially announced that they will be partnering with the Red Deer Regional Health Foundation’s Taste of Red Deer to enhance their already popular event.

Jan Pennie, Chair of the CentreFest board of directors believes that adding new opportunities to old events bring new life and excitement for both visitors and volunteers.

“Creating new for any event is a really good thing. We get a bit stagnant and this is adding so much lustre to our event. Even just to our board members who are fired up and ready to have a partnership with someone like the taste of Red Deer has been in Red Deer longer than we have been. The joining of two makes sense we’re both about families and people and it’s going to be a wonderful thing.”

Traditionally, CentreFest has always been held in the streets of downtown Red Deer hosting numerous live street performers. However, this year Taste of Red Deer will be joining in on the festivities at the Gary W. H. Harris Celebration Plaza with food from 25-30 local Central Albertan restaurants.

Pennie believes that the usage of the Canada Winter games plaza will attract more visitors, and volunteers but also will be utilized to its full potential in warmer weather.

“I think because it was so cold when the Canada Winter Games happened people didn’t get to enjoy this unique beautiful plaza that was built and I think now it is going to give them the opportunity to come and see it now.”

Taste of Red Deer will be donating their proceeds to the Red Deer Regional Health Foundation and by pairing up with CentreFest, it is likely that they will see more revenue being donated.

Although there is still some time before CentreFest begins on July 26th, it is sure to be both a thrilling and delicious success.
