Over 200 Sylvan Lake and area residents attended a candidates forum for the Sylvan Lake-Innisfail riding on April 4th.

The forum was hosted by the Sylvan Lake Chamber of Commerce at the Nexsource Centre. Questions from both the Chamber and the attending audience were presented to the six candidates which included:

Devin Dreeshan from The UCP Party, Danielle Klooster from The Alberta Party, Chad Miller from the Freedom Conservative Party, Robyn O'Brien from the NDP Party, Brian Vanderkley from the Alberta Advantage Party, and Independent Party candidate Ed Wychopen.

Some of the topics and issues brought up included, strengthening business, growing provincial trade, improving government accountability, health care, transportation, and infrastructure.

One Sylvan Lake resident, Bill Vail said health care was the most important issue to him. " Because I"m going to be turning 80 in another month or so, privatizing health care is a big concern of mine". When asked if attending a candidates forum could change his mind on how he would vote he said, " Possibly, depending on what the candidates are talking about or questions they respond to and things of that nature".
