With a goal to make the world a better place, Lacombe based A Better World has plenty of accomplishments to be proud of in 2016.

Co-Founder and Executive Director Eric Rajah said they were active in five countries last year.

“We were in Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, Afghanistan and Bolivia.  We built schools, medical clinics, agriculture projects and we drilled water for close to 50,000 people in all of those countries. We also sent a medical team, a teaching team and a rehab team. We raised around our community, close to $2 million dollars.”

Rajah said there are also needs here at home and A Better World runs programs to feed children in Lacombe schools, plus they focus efforts on one other local initiative.

“We also do a major project every year under our brand named Neighbours. We find a family in Central Alberta who has fallen between the cracks due to circumstances beyond their control. This year in Clive we went and renovated a home for a family of eight, who were disabled, they couldn’t even get their wheelchairs into their homes. We did a complete renovation.”

Rajah says a major focus in 2017 will be on how they can do more training in developing countries so people can become more independent.

They'll also be launching a local kindness project in recognition of Canada's 150th Birthday.
