On November 16, 2016 at 4:52 a.m., Ponoka RCMP responded to a complaint of an assault with a weapon against a male.

The male victim was outside his vehicle when three males threatened him and tried to steal his vehicle. The victim was able to scare off two of the suspects, but one male remained, assaulted the victim with a weapon and then fled. The suspects did not steal the vehicle.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for his minor injuries and subsequently released.

Ponoka Police Dog Services and General Investigation Section were utilized and the Maskwacis RCMP assisted in this investigation.

As a result of a prompt investigation, the Ponoka RCMP identified and located the three males, who were arrested and brought into custody with no incident.

One youth has been charged with robbery, assault, and fail to comply with disposition. Under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, his name cannot be published.

18-year-old Chase Brown of Maskwacis has been charged with robbery, assault, assault with a weapon and three counts of failing to comply with disposition. He is scheduled to appear in Provincial court in Ponoka, Alberta on November 18th, 2016 at 0930 hrs. .
