The Cochrane Generals scored five unanswered goals in the third period to beat the Blackfalds Wranglers 6-4 on Friday night, dealing the Wranglers their first loss on home ice this season.

Leading 4-1, a hard check on Blackfalds' leading scorer Landon Siegle ended the second period.

After a dust-up in front of the Generals bench, Wranglers forward Zane Bennett was assessed five minutes for fighting, two for instigating and a game misconduct. No Cochrane players were penalized.

Wranglers head coach Sean Neumeier could be heard berating officials after they gave the Generals a seven-minute powerplay.

Assistant coach Brian Lenz said the team became distracted after that point.

`We got mad and attacked their bench. I don`t totally agree with the call but you know what ... it's not their job to ref the game, the players, and they got upset over that and we just lost our momentum," Lenz said.

Ryan Chambers scores one of his two goals on a wrap-around in the second period.

Lenz hopes the incident teaches players to keep their cool when calls don't go their way.

"You can't argue and complain about each other and everything and win hockey games. I've been around for a long time and it just does not happen that way. For some reason tonight, we did that. First time all year," he said.

Wranglers forward Ryan Chambers had a three-point night, scoring two goals and adding an assist. Tyler Bell and Braden also scored for Blackfalds. In net, Rylan Bardick stopped 41 of 46 shots.

The team travels to Three Hills on Friday before hosting High River on Sunday.
