The Lacombe Generals had a pretty successful season last year, and exciting plans are in order for the upcoming season, including hosting the 2019 Allan Cup.

Tuesday morning, GM Jeff McInnis made the proud announcement that Viking Projects will be the title sponsor, allowing many of the teams goals and ambitions to become a reality.

General Manager for the Lacombe Generals Jeff McInnis

“This gives the tournament a foundation. We had all these ideas, but how are you going to do it without sponsorship? It can’t happen without it. We would fall flat on our face if we didn’t have people who believed in you, so for Viking to say, ‘Hey! We believe in you’, it makes it all real.”

McInnis said, just like Rogers Hometown Hockey, this is an opportunity to showcase our love of hockey on a national level.

“I think it’s a chance to showcase who we are; like I said before, when you renovate your house or get your landscaping done, you want to have people over to see it. We are pretty proud of the facility, the community support, and the people who believe in us. It’s a chance to show off what we think is pretty cool”

The Generals won both the league and provincial championships last season, but missed out on their fourth Allan Cup victory, falling to the Stoney Creek Generals 7-4 last month in Rosetown Saskatchewan.
