Most schools in the Central Alberta area have been shut down due to snowy and icy conditions, but that didn’t stop the Bantam ‘A’ Rockets for getting outside.

The team decided to take the day off to help out the neighbours that aren't able to their shoveling done or physically can’t do it. Derek Wagner, the team’s captain says they are fundraising for an upcoming trip and since the community has been helping them out they wanted to return the favour.

“We’re just trying to give back to the city for supporting us, sometimes fundraising for us,” said a chilly sounding Wagner. “It’s not too bad right now but I’m not sure what the weather is going to look like later on.”

A mother on the team made a post on a Lacombe Buy n’ sell group about their initiative to find out who could use their services, they have been working their way down the list and plan to get as many done as they can.

Wagner and his teammates said they were happy to spend their snow day doing a generous act, since they will be asking for help soon too.

The team is hoping to head to Phoenix in February for a tournament and their first fundraiser is a Dueling Piano night at the LMC next friday.

The boys' nest game is on Sunday, November 15 at 5:15 in Lacombe.
