Lacombe Rams Junior Varsity girls’ volleyball team followed up the boys’ loss with a 3-2 victory tonight (Sept. 21) over the Hunting Hills Lightning.

After winning the first set 25-17, they dropped the second set 17-25, win the third set 25-19 and lostthe fourth set 26-24.

Rams ended up winning the final set and the match and assistant coach Danielle Raugust couldn’t have been happier.

“It feels very good to get a win. It was our first game of the season so just to get everyone on the court, try them out and see what positions that are going to be a good fit for everyone is the first step.”

One of the strengths Raugust said is their offence, something they’ll look to rely upon throughout the rest of the year.

“We had a lot of good attacks and I think we only missed two serves in the whole five sets so we just have to carry on killing the ball and putting the ball in play.”

Like the boys, the team will look next to a tournament this weekend at Hunting Hills starting tomorrow afternoon and are guaranteed five games.
