The Town of Ponoka is reopening its racquetball courts and Aquaplex for public use starting Monday, July 13th.

Current COVID-19 health restrictions will remain in place, and the Aqauplex will be reopening in stages with a modified schedule.

Lane swimming and wading pool access will be offered during the week-days at staggered times starting at 7 am. A copy of the schedules is available here at ponoka.ca under 'Aquaplex', or give the pool a call at 403-783-0131 for more information.

The health measures include occupancy limits for the pool and deck, one-way traffic, and the wading pool only being allowed to be used by one family or one cohort of up to 10 people at a time while maintaining physical distancing requirements.

Aquaplex users are also asked to limit their visits to no more than three per week to allow other guests the opportunity to also enjoy the facility.

The climbing wall, rope, diving board, and pool toys are not available; however, users may bring their own, as long as they are clean and disinfected.

The sauna and hot tub will remain closed until Phase 3 of the Provincial Relaunch Plan.

Water Fitness & Public Swimming

Starting August 1st, water fitness and public swimming will be added on a modified schedule with health restriction still in place. More details on this, as well as swimming lessons, will be available in the coming weeks.

Racquetball Courts

The racquetball courts located at the Ponoka Arena Complex will be reopening for booking starting July 13th with public health measures in place, and pre-booking is required. To do so, call 403-783-0131.

Ponoka Arena Complex

Besides the racquetball courts and the Farmers Market, which resumed operations on July 1st for their Wednesday mornings market in the curling rink space, the Arena will remain closed to the public until the fall, with a hopeful reopening date in September of 2020.

The Ponoka Splash Park, public parks, playgrounds and walking trails, Hamilton’s Skate Park, the tennis courts located beside the Aquaplex and the outdoor fitness park located across from the Scout Hall on 46A Close are all currently open again for public use.
