It was a nostalgic game for the Lacoka bantam women’s hockey team as they played against their former alumni players. Smiles were shared on the ice between both teams as the alumni claimed victory in a win of 4-1 against the current Lacoka team on Friday, December 21st, 2018.

“I think it’s cool to see where all the girls have gone,” remarked Ava Lee, a player of the current Lacoka team.

The game was great for the midget Lacoka girls to see where women’s hockey can take them. Players, coaches, and fans alike of the Lacoka midget and alumni teams wanted to encourage people to take interest in women’s hockey.

“When I started playing girls hockey I was pretty behind so I didn’t think I would ever be able to play well on a team, but when I started playing girls hockey I found that there was a lot of room to grow and I found a lot of support from the other girls,” said Hannah Allan, of the Lacoka Alumni team.

Both teams were gleaming, giggling, and proud as they stood next to each other for a group photo at the end of the game. They may have been opponents on the ice, but off the ice, they stood united by hockey, teamwork, and friendship.
