The Lacoka Locos bantam lacrosse team beat the Blackfalds Warriors 8-6 Tuesday night at the Gary Moe Auto Group Sportsplex.

With the win, the Locos take a 1-0 lead in their best-of-three series for the Central Alberta Lacrosse League championship.

Lacoka took a 3-1 lead in the first period but coughed it up in the second. The teams were tied 4-4 entering the third.

Teams traded goals several times in the final frame -- fun for the crowd that packed half the stands, but not for Locos head coach Trevor Feragen.

“It’s not good for the heart,” Feragen said, laughing. “It’s pretty intense on the bench.”

The series continues Thursday in Blackfalds.

Feragen said it’s been a successful year for the Locos, going undefeated in the regular season. From July 12-15, they’ll play at the Alberta Lacrosse Association’s Minor Box Provincials in Calgary.
