Generals captain Don Morrison scored the game-winner in the shootout to give Lacombe a 5-4 road victory over the Innisfail Eagles Sunday night, their sixth straight after a 7-1 win over Fort Saskatchewan on Saturday.

“We weren’t firing on all cylinders tonight. Just gutted one out tonight and found a way to squeak one out,” Morrison said.

A goal from Jesse Todd with 16 seconds left in the third period forced overtime between the teams. Todd scored twice in the game.

The Generals also had goals from Keenan Desmet and Dylan Nowakowski.

Lacombe outshot Innisfail 57-37 through regulation and two overtime periods.

With the two wins, Lacombe still sits two points behind Rosetown for first place in the Allan Cup Hockey West.

Their road trip continues next weekend, with games against Stony Plain and Fort Saskatchewan.
