It was a noisy weekend at the Bentley Arena, as hockey parents packed the wooden stands and rang their cowbells for the Atom D provincial championship.

That was exactly the kind of environment organizers were going for, says Amanda Dickson from the host committee.

“This is an experience some of them won’t get to experience again. Hopefully, they come out of it with lifelong memories,” Dickson says.

There were seven visiting teams that flooded the small town. Dickson says it took a lot of work and volunteers to plan the event and was pleased to hear good feedback from visitors.

“I think it all came together perfectly,” she says.

An added bonus, the Bentley Canucks took the gold medal on home ice, beating the Mallaig Monarchs 10-8.
