The Gull Lake Pro Am Golf Tournament at Gull Lake is happening this weekend for the 12th time, starting Friday afternoon.

This tournament supports the Junior Golf Foundation of Gull Lake, which is a mentorship program where more experienced junior golfers mentor the younger juniors in golf etiquette, such as raking sand traps, where to stand while teeing off, and repairing ball marks.

Owner of Gull Lake Golf Course Eamon McCann says everyone is very supportive of the foundation and the tournament.

“Even our community our here at Gull Lake, a lot of people get behind that are not so much even into golf, but love what we are doing for the kids. And any child that has ever played in our junior program, can apply back here for secondary education when they leave school, and go on to be something else in the big world. And, after 11 years, we’ve given out $75,000 to our past juniors.”

The weekends features an adult-child tournament on Friday, and the Pro-am on Saturday, which includes 9 professional golfers from the LPGA, PGA champions, and the Canadian tour.

Those pros include past winner of the US Women’s Open Sandra Palmer, and Sam Randolf, who has played in numerous tournaments including the US Open, Masters Tournament, and the PGA Championship.
