The Lacombe Generals have completed the sweep of the Fort Saskatchewan Chiefs after taking their provincial semifinal series 4 games to zero.  Gens defenseman Ian Barteaux said that despite that result, the Chiefs didn’t make it easy for them.

“They’ve definitely given us a run for our money, they’re working really, really hard over there so kudos to them. It’s actually really fun hockey. It’s not always the most fun when the score is out of hand. It’s easy but it definitely makes for kind of a boring game so this series has been a lot of fun because they’ve been keeping it close with us and making a game every time.”

Now the Generals await their provincial final opponent in the form of the Eagles. Whether it be the Stony Plain version or Innisfail remains to be seen.  Stony Plain currently leads that series 3-1 with Game 5 taking place this Saturday (Mar 3rd).

Also on the horizon for the Generals is the Black and Gold Moth Ball at the LMC on March 24th. As Assistant GM Boyd Williams explains, it’s a ladies night fundraiser with a twist.

“Wear something old, something new, something borrowed or even gold.  So like an old wedding dress or an old bridesmaids dress, or your grad dress.  We wanted to do a theme rather than just a dress up. We’re going to put on a show.”

The players will be serving as butlers for the evening and there will also be great prizes and raffles to be won.  Ladies who purchase their tickets before March 10th will be entered for a complimentary limo ride to the event. Tickets are $65 each or a table of 8 for $500 and can be picked up at Lionel’s No Frills, from Boyd at Royal Lepage Lifestyles Realty in Lacombe or by calling Charmen Baron at 403-318-4400.
