The Lacombe Generals found the back of the net in all 3 periods last night (April 11th) to cruise to a 5-3 win over the Stoney Creek Generals from Ontario at the Allan Cup in Rosetown.

It means the Gens earn a bye right into semi-final action tomorrow night.

Two veteran players for the Gens, Dennis Rix and Jessie Todd both felt the team’s play improved over their 1-1 opening match-up with the host Redwings.

“I thought everyone played great, we were able to roll 4 lines there and that’s where our depth comes into play, that’s how we won that game there, so huge in a tournament like this to get that day off so we really wanted to grab the win tonight” – Rix.

“I think we got a lot better, yesterday was maybe a little rust, we have been off for a couple weeks so got that out of us and came in tonight and I thought guys had a really good game, the cycle was really good, we were taking a lot of shots, we’ve got to hit the net on some of them, but other than that I thought everyone stepped up and had a huge game” – Todd

Todd was named game MVP for Lacombe.

“It felt good, I wanted to have a big game, I felt I didn’t play as strongly as I wanted to last night so I wanted to come out, and help the boys get the ‘W’, because when we got the Tuesday/Wednesday schedule, that day off is huge”.

Todd had two goals in the win.

There are two quarter final match-ups today, the Generals await their next opponent, they’re currently scheduled to hit the ice Friday night at 8 in a semi-final, and the Allan Cup final is set for Saturday at 8 pm.
