Fast cars, loud noised and flying mud highlighted the Tail Creek Raceway near Alix this weekend (Sept.16-17) as some of the best racers in Canada competed in off-road 4x4.

The track was host to the 3rd annual Tail Creek Punisher Canadian Finals, with professionals and amateurs competing in dirt, rock and endurance racing.

One of the pro racers and organizer Ryan Stambaugh said there’s so much to love about the sport.

“Our sport keeps growing and growing. It’s actually overall in North America, I think, off-road racing is the second fastest growing motor sport right now.”

“If you’ve never seen off-road racing or 4x4 racing or go-fast racing, you have to come out and check out one of these events.”

For Catherine Beye, who’s been coming out to the track for the past year and half, the races have meant a lot to her and her eight-year old daughter Dakota.

“Her youngest sister passed away from cancer two years ago and it was just after that we started coming out so it was nice to have that one-on-one time with her.”

“It’s been nice. It’s not something we get to do very often.”

Dakota was hesitant about the sport at first, but after one of the drivers had her ride along with him in his buggy, she was hooked.

The event happens three or four times a year. For more information and schedules click here.
