Lacombe Dodgers couldn’t of asked for a better outcome in their first game of the Parkland League playoffs.

The first place Dodgers destroyed the Airdrie Brewers 10-0 in the first game of a three-game series.

With all the confidence heading into Game 1, player-manager Andre Touchette said expectations were high.

“We knew we were coming in against a team that we’ve beaten before. We’ve seen the pitcher a couple of times and knew if we came to the plate with a good approach, the hits would come and they came tonight so that was good.”

Not only did the bats come out swinging, pitching may have been as good as its been all year, not allowing a run.

“Blair has been strong all year and he didn’t do anything different tonight. He pounded the zone, threw strikes and that’s all we needed,” said Touchette.

The defending champions went 11-3 in the regular season as their quest for back-to-back titles has begun and they’ll look to wrap up the series next Tuesday when they head to Airdrie for Game 2.

Touchette said the last thing they want to do is come home for Game 3, and if they get the same kind of pitching on Tuesday that did tonight, there’s a good chance they'll leave the Brewers in Airdrie.
