Born and raised in Sylvan Lake, Cody Cartier is no stranger to Central Alberta.

After spending his first year in pro with the Manchester Storm in the Elite Ice Hockey League last year, Cartier is making the transition to his new club.

One thing that’s surprised him so far in his time with the Gens, is the level of play.

As for the groups of guys, Cartier said he couldn’t have asked for a better locker room to be a part of.

Gens are coming off a 3-2 overtime loss to the Rosetown Red Wings for their first loss of the year and are now 3-1 to the start the season.

Despite the loss last Saturday, Cartier said expectations remain high and believes it’s just a matter of time before the team really gets going.

Gens are off this week, as they gear up for a highly anticipated game in Stony Plain on Nov. 10 against the Eagles.
