The Central Alberta Selects Sunny 94 Midget AA team is about half-way through the North Division Playoff Tournament.

Although the Selects are off to a bit of bumpy start, beginning the tournament with two losses against Olds on Thursday and Red Deer CanPro on Friday morning. The Selects are not accepting defeat just yet; they still hope to enter semi-finals despite the rough start.

“I am extremely proud of these kids, they’ve put a lot of work in they put their heart on the line. They play with their heart and they play hard. If we just eliminate some of our mistakes and our mental mistakes, and we capitalize. If we can get a bit of a break we can get back on track and we will be okay. We need a little puck-luck and it would be nice to capture a little lightning in a bottle,” said Jason Petrie, head coach.

The players aren’t ready to give up yet either according to team captain, Adam Howard.

“We’ve been getting some bad bounces but I think the boys are resilient. We’ve been putting in the effort we just got to keep trusting in what we’re doing and the outcome is going to follow.”

The Central Alberta Selects will be playing at the Gary Moe Auto Group Sportsplex at 6:15 PM Friday, March 8th and at 2:30 PM on Saturday, March 8th. Finals and Semi-finals will be on Sunday.
