Lacombe Victim Services felt the love from the community this weekend as part of a major fundraiser.

Lacombe Ford’s 2nd Annual Drive One Away Ball Hockey Tournament took place on Saturday, where the community came out in bunches to support Lacombe Victims Services.

For every vehicle taken out for a test drive Lacombe Ford is donating $20 to the non-for-profit organization.

The amount raised will be tallied later this week, but Debbie Barron, Program Manager with Lacombe Victim Services, said however much it is, the money will be put to good use.

“It’s very important to us because as we are non-profit and we use the funds from fundraising to support our volunteers and to support the victims in the community. The money we raise goes towards keeping them up in their training.”

Kelsey Bilyk, Marketing Director at Lacombe Ford, said for the second straight year, the community support was greatly appreciated.

“Thank you everybody. We’ve had lots of kids bouncing and I’ve seen lots of people come through. A big thank you to everybody who came out, who took a test drive and just enjoyed a bit of the day.”

Close to an additional $700 was also raised from their BBQ.

ATB Financial’s ball hockey team came out on top as the winners of the tournament.

Bilyk would also like to thank all the sponsors: Pentagon Farms, Blackfalds Wranglers, Reds Sports, ATB Financial, Lacombe City Cinemas, A&W, Co-op, Line-X, Step Energy and the Central Alberta Buccaneers.
