Lacombe's not the only community hosting some big names from the hockey world this weekend.

Tonight, Craig MacTavish and Brian Burke will be in Olds, helping raise money for Hockey Alberta Foundation's Every Kid, Every Community grant program.

Foundation Executive Director Tim Leer says the goal of that program is simple, to grow the game of hockey.

“Which is open to community groups to get kids in hockey, and whether that be through a pond hockey type program, a ball hockey program, just getting kids in the game that otherwise wouldn’t have the chance”.

Leer says there are big plans in the community for the funds raised tonight.

“Half of the dollars will be split with Olds Minor Hockey, the Olds Grizzlys, and the Olds Broncos female hockey team and together they will be providing a program in Olds to grow the game of hockey and I think the focus will be female hockey in and around the Olds area”.

MacTavish and Burke will participate in a hot stove session, answering a series of questions, telling stories of days gone by and about the future of both teams at the event at the Pomeroy Inn and Suites.

They'll then be signing autographs during the 1st intermission at the Olds Grizzlys game.
