The Lacombe AA Generals are officially tied 1-1 in their quarter-finals five-game series against the Daysland Northstars.

Their first game was in Daysland where the Generals won 2-1.

Heading into their second game of the series, the Generals drew first blood but the Northstars were quick to take over the game with a two-goal lead at 3-1.

The Generals had a successful second period where they managed to tie up the game, but the Northstars were quick to respond breaking the tie within the same minute.

The Generals attempted a bit of a comeback in the third, but were ultimately too late and the game ended at a score of 7-5 for the Daysland Northstars.

Head Coach for the Generals, Jordan Koopmans was not very impressed with the outcome of the game.

“Obviously, not playing the shootout until ten is not how we want to be playing but I think if we can just play a 60-minute game and not spot them in the lead that’s definitely our style. Especially since they had a short roster tonight. I think we played a lot better in the second half of our game”

Koopmans noted a bit of a rivalry between both teams.

“We’ve played a lot of hockey against them that last few years, and there’s obviously a rivalry and I think just trying to stay disciplined. It’s a hard-hitting and emotional series. Hopefully, we can stay disciplined. We have a strong powerplay and hopefully, we can use that to our advantage.”

Heading forward, he hopes the team takes a more active role on the ice allowing no passengers on the team.

Game three will be held in Daysland on February 7th at 8:15 PM. Game four is scheduled for February 8th in Lacombe at 8:45 PM.
