Town of Ponoka to host Fall Festival Friday night
The Town of Ponoka will be hosting a fall festival tonight (Friday, September 22, 2023) to celebrate the reopening and completion of the redevelopment of 51 Avenue. The festival will feature an evening of live music from ‘the Educators’ and tastes of local cuisine from various food vendors. The Educators is a local band that consists of teachers from the Ponoka area. “We are excited to host an event in Downtown Ponoka that will bring the community together to celebrate the completion of the extensive improvements that have been completed on 51 Avenue,” said Town of Ponoka Mayor Kevin Ferguson. “We are especially excited to showcase some of our community’s many excellent restaurants during the event, which will include a Taste of Ponoka component that will allow visitors to sample some of the delicious cuisine available in our community,” he added. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony that will celebrate the re-opening of 51st Avenue at 5PM. “The redevelopment of 51 Avenue has been a critical capital project that will improve the quality of life for the whole community for many years to come. By hosting this event, the Town of Ponoka is able to showcase the redevelopment of 51 Avenue and the many improvements along the roadway,” said Town of Ponoka Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Sandra Lund. “The many improvements that were completed on 51 Avenue will help promote economic development in our community and attract new businesses, shoppers and visitors to Ponoka,” she added. The event will be held on 51st Avenue between 50th Street and 51st Street and in the parking lot, weather permitting. For more information on this event, click here.
