Residents are invited to share their ideas as The City and the River Bend Golf and Recreation Society work together to develop a new vision for River Bend Golf and Recreation Area.

The City is developing a new Master Plan for River Bend Golf and Recreation Area, which will establish a 20-year site vision, identifying guiding principles and actionable strategies to optimize the site with the broadest and most impactful community benefit in mind. The Plan will identify trends in sport, recreation, the natural environment, and consider new and emerging needs, interests, and opportunities.

“River Bend is one of many outstanding nodes in our Waskasoo Park System that truly creates that ‘City in a park’ feel in our community,” said Sarah Tittemore, Community Services General Manager. “As we work to develop a long-term future vision for golf and non-golf activities and infrastructure, we want to hear from residents about their aspirations for the future of the area.”

Residents can provide their input through an online survey or one of three virtual workshops:

  • April 26, 6-7:15 p.m.
  • April 28, 6-7:15 p.m.
  • May 5, 6-7:15 p.m.

The survey and workshop registration information are available at www.reddeer.ca/riverbend. The survey closes on May 6, 2022.

River Bend Golf and Recreation Area (known also as River Bend) is located on 30 Avenue, five kilometres north of 67 Street. The lands are part of the iconic Waskasoo Park System, owned by The City of Red Deer. The site itself is operated by the River Bend Golf & Recreation Society, and offers amenities such as River Bend Golf Course, Driving Range, Mini-Links, playground, wooded hiking trails, Discovery Canyon, boat launch for access to the Red Deer River, cross country ski trails, and more.

To ensure the plan truly reflects the community, we provide opportunities in late summer for the public to review and provide further input into the draft plan, with the final Master Plan completed by mid-September.
