The Town of Sylvan Lake will begin work on the Festival Street Expansion Project on Monday, July 11. Over the course of the next couple of months residents can expect construction between 7:00AM and 7:00PM with occasional work occurring on Sundays on 50A Avenue in Sylvan Lake.

The Festival Street Expansion project is believed to improve functionality and bring in new attractions by extending the look and feel of Festival Street.

The phase of the project includes the following:

  • Excavation and removals
  • ATCO gas line work
  • Water main replacement
  • Sanitary service replacements
  • Installation of electrical conduit and streetlights
  • Gravel road structure
  • Asphalt paving
  • Concrete sidewalks and crosswalks
  • Landscaping
  • Line marking
  • Installation of a public art component

The project is being done thanks to the Canada Community Revitalization Fund. The Town of Sylvan Lake received $556,194 from the fund for the Festival Street project.

The phase is expected to be completed in October of 2022. The next phase of the project will include a second layer of asphalt and the addition of street furniture.
