The Town of Penhold is beginning work to complete the community vision of recreational lands located south of the Penhold Regional Multiplex. Starting this week, crews will begin work on the new Community Hub development which will include the following amenities:

  • Trail connectivity
  • Furnishings such as benches and tables
  • Common area
  • Washrooms
  • Finalized work on the Pump track/Skate park area
  • New Ball Diamond development

Mayor Mike Yargeau states, “We have been envisioning the Community Hub for many years. To see the growth of the amenities available for residents and visitors alongside the growth in Penhold as a community is very exciting.”

The planned development of this space has been an ongoing project and included the newest addition of the Multi-Use All-Wheel Park (MAP) constructed in 2021.This project, to expand Penhold’s recreation space even further, has been made possible by a generous donation from Stewart and Eileen Ford, a long-standing local family, and an investment of $490,000 from the Government of Canada through the Canada Community Revitalization Fund (CCRF).

“The Community Hub has been designed to align with our vision to include space in Penhold enhancing the quality of life and wellbeing while providing multiple social opportunities for residents and visitors. With the expansion of trails, a common area to host events, and the addition of a second ball diamond, we expect to draw visitors from all over central Alberta. We are grateful to Mr. & Mrs. Ford and the Government of Canada for helping us achieve our vision,” says Yargeau.
