Environment Canada has issued an extreme cold warning for the central Alberta area. Extremely cold values near minus 40 are expected tonight and a few areas may see wind chill values approach minus 50.
Temperatures are expected to warm up a little bit by Wednesday afternoon but linger in the Eastern and Northern Alberta areas.
The warning is in effect for the following areas:
