Canada Days is looking a little different this year. Some municipalities have not had the time to plan their usual activities this year however, there are still a couple things going on. Here’s a look at the events of and activities of this year’s Canada Day.

Drive-in movie

The Town of Ponoka will be hosting a free drive-in movie at the Ponoka Arena Complex on Wednesday, June 30th. The chosen movie is Disney’s live action The Lion King. The parking lot will be open to vehicles starting at 9 PM and the movie will be starting at 10 PM.

This year’s Canada Day is a little bit different from those in the past. Canada continues to mourn for the discovery of the remains of Indigenous children in British Columbia and Saskatchewan. Ponoka Mayor Rick Bonnet has issued a statement involving this year’s Canada Day. You can view his reflection on this year's Canada Day here.
