Two fire departments called to large grass fire

Around 3:45 Thursday afternoon, The Eckville Fire Department was called to a large grass fire on Highway 12 and Range Road 32. As more help was needed, The Bentley Fire Department was also dispatched to help.

The fire had spread over a hill and across a farm field. The burnt area was about the size of two football fields.

One concern was a gas plant in the area, but the fire did not reach that area.

At this time there is no information as to what caused the fire.
