Back for its third year, the Red Deer Queer Community Association is hosting its Car Pride Parade this June 11th between 1 and 4 pm. They are asking everyone to join them as they ride in style and celebrate 2SLGBTQIA+ Pride throughout the City of Red Deer!

The Parade attendees will meet at 1 pm in the parking lot outside the Goodlife Fitness at Parkland Mall and will travel through downtown along Gaetz Ave, then back up toward Parkland Mall along Taylor Drive. Following the Car Parade will be an Afterparty Market that will take place between 4 pm and 6 pm at the Gary W. Harris Celebration Plaza downtown.

“Everyone is welcome to join and encouraged to decorate their cars as loudly and in as many colours as possible!” Red Deer Queer Community Association Vice-Chair Alex Pugatschew says. “We love seeing the turnout each year. Even if you can’t come in a car, hang out along the route and cheer us along, we love to see everyone’s support!”

This year’s Car Parade will be the third in a series of fourteen events held by the Red Deer Queer Community Association throughout the month of June. All of RDQCA’s events can be found on the Pride 2022 page on their website https://rdqca.org/pride-2022.

Additional events include Youth and Adult poetry slams, joining the Red Deer Native Friendship Centre in celebrating Red Deer’s first 2Spirit Powwow, and a Drag Queen Storytime featuring one of Red Deer’s own fabulous Queens, Liliana.
